Full Moon Ritual: Removing Barriers to Your Success

We've set our intentions during the new moon and checked in two weeks later. During the full moon, let's identify and remove barriers to our success.

It has been two weeks since setting our initial intention, one week since we assessed how that was going. Now we remove the barriers to our success.

Let me be clear, this isn’t as easy of a task as you might think. The number one barrier to our success is ourselves. We put up barriers for a variety of reasons, but the biggest one is fear. It is the most powerful emotion, it holds us back, and sometimes propels us forward, and it can keep us in stasis, frozen in time and never progressing.

So then looking at whatever intention was created during the New Moon Ritual cycle, which aspects provoked the most fear in you? Did those areas hold you back from being fully successful in your intention?

Fear is the culprit that means we don’t set the tennis shoes out, or we sleep through the alarm because we’ve stayed up too late, or we agree to do something for someone else instead of spend the time writing, or devoting ourselves to the micro habits that get us past the finish line.

You could have all the best intentions, put up post-its all around, meditate on what you need to do, but that pesky fear acts like a gremlin that halts our good intentions in their tracks. So how do we handle that gremlin? Other than not feeding it after midnight or getting it wet? (GenX joke there)

The trick is to be afraid, but do it anyway. Simple, right? Simple, but difficult for sure. Part of overall mindfulness means we have to experience unpleasant experiences and emotions without pretending that they don’t exist, because they do exist, and they can be quite a burden. Be scared, but do it anyway.

Use the moon, its fullness, its shine and beauty, to remember you can be scared and still do the thing that scares you. Let the moon be your beacon of strength. It shines despite the darkness, and so can you.
